The Competition Instructions for Kainuu Orienteering Week 2026 are now available. We have highlighted the most essential points below to ensure you have a smooth orienteering week.

General Instructions for Everyone

  • Read the instructions carefully: Familiarizing yourself with the procedures in advance ensures a smooth arrival and experience at the venue.
  • Arrival and Parking: Check the arrival instructions and purchase your parking tickets in advance from our online shop to avoid unnecessary delays.
  • Safety: Install the 112 Suomi app on your smartphone and place the icon on your home screen for quick access.
  • Equipment: Access to the terrain is not permitted without an Emit card and a competition bib.
    • New for 2026: For Open Courses, entry to the terrain also requires an official stamp on your hand, provided at the start gate.
  • Mandatory Finish Procedures: Remember to punch at the finish line and have your Emit card read at the result service. Even if you discontinue your course (DNF), you must report to the finish!
  • Utilize Free Wi-Fi: A public Wi-Fi network (provided by Kaisanet Oy) is available at the Competition Centre. Please use it primarily to help prevent mobile network congestion.

Key Points for Competition Categories

  • Registration: The final normal-price registration phase ends on May 31st (lower entry fees). Late registration ends on June 7th.
  • Competitor Information: Double-check your Emit card number and other details. Report any changes by May 31st. Please note that changes made from June 8th onwards will be subject to a fee.
  • Starts: Note your assigned start times and the numbering of the starting locations (updated for 2026!). Also, check the opening hours for the start time selection service.

Key Points for Open Courses

  • Registration: Advance registration is more affordable and speeds up the process on-site. Instructions for using Finnish sport benefits (ePassi, Smartum, Edenred) are available on our website.
  • Flexible Start Times: No fixed start times – you can enter the terrain whenever it suits you best within the daily start windows.
  • Fastest way to the Terrain: If you have pre-registered and have your own Emit card, pick up your bib from the self-service folders and head directly to the start gate and to the start area.
  • Personal Emit Cards: Emit cards are personal. Different individuals MAY NOT use the same card during the week.
  • Start Gate Timing and Location: The start gate is located in the immediate vicinity of the Competition Centre. The gate closes 20 minutes before the end of the daily start window – please take this into account when moving to your starting point.
  • Check Your Starting Area: Your bib number does not indicate your starting area. Check the correct location (Start 3, 4, or 5) from the daily course and start location table in the competition instructions.
