Free departure times and the 6-hour departure time window in Kainuu Orienteering Week 2021

Published: 31.08.2023

For those who are still considering participating in the 53. Kainuu Orienteering Week, here is an important clarification regarding to free departure times and the 6-hour departure time window in Kainuu O-Week:
- Free starting times are used in both series competition categories H/D8-95 (excluding H/D16-21E) and open orienteering (open courses).

- In the competition categories, participants are free to choose their starting time from the approximately 6-hour daily start time window. With regard to competition categories, the current situation for the summer seems to make it possible to hold an orienteering competition for licenced orienteers without restrictions on the number of participants.

- Also in the open orienteering (open courses), participants can choose their starting time from the daily starting time window of about 6 hours. With regard to open courses, a limit of 50 people is expected for the summer, so the dividing into starting groups of 50 people will be applied to open courses.

As we announced in our event bulletin last week, we will publish more detailed instructions for organizing a health-safe event in our bulletins, website, social media, newsletters and in email instructions sent to all participants during May. So now it’s worth taking all of our channels to watch, and you’ll stay tuned.
