Terrain
Competition terrain of the Kainuu Orienteering Week 2022 is definitely one of the most greatest and diverse in the Kainuu region area. Luhtakangas is a pine forest-dominated terrain crowned by the demanding slopes of Pyssykulju and Kuirivaara. In Äikänvaara hill area the orienteers will enjoy challenging and traditional Kainuu-type spruce forest. Great nature experiences for orienteers are provided by the old forest conservation area on the top of Äikänvaara (Natura 2000 network). In the use of terrain and course setting, special efforts have been made to ensure that all categories have access to the best orienteering areas. Race days are offered with a variety of themes from middle distance to long distance.
