Travel to the Competition Centre conveniently, responsibly, and affordably with the Competition Bus
Kainuu Orienteering Week 2026 offers comprehensive and affordable competition bus transport from the Event Centre near the centre of Suomussalmi, through key accommodation sites, directly to the Competition Centre on every competition day.
The Event Bus is a convenient and responsible way to cover the distance. By using the bus service, you avoid driving on site and purchasing a Competition Centre parking ticket. You also arrive right in the heart of the Competition Centre with a minimal 150-metre walking distance. Buses run every 45 minutes on each event day.
Competition Bus Route and Stops in Suomussalmi
The competition bus transport runs from the Suomussalmi (Ämmänsaari) area to the Competition Centre located in Säynäjä and back during all four competition stages (Sun 28.6., Tue 30.6., Thu 2.7., and Fri 3.7.).
The bus route connects the main event and accommodation sites:

Stop: KOW Camping Site (Ruukinkangas school I stop, RVs/caravans and tent accommodation)

The travel time for the outward and return journey, including breaks, is approximately 35–40 minutes.

Discounted Ticket Prices and the Super-Affordable Family Ticket
Kainuu Orienteering Week has lowered Event Bus ticket prices for the summer of 2026 by up to 25 per cent.
– This coming summer, our bus tickets have been priced very affordably, says Competition Director Jari Anttonen. In particular, our brand new product, the Family Ticket, offers a cost-effective way to transport the entire family (2 adults + 2–3 children) back and forth for the entire week. The price of the Family Ticket is only 40 euros for the whole week, Anttonen specifies.
