Kainuu Trail Hossa National Park (Finland) trail running 28th June 2025. 

The 5th Kainuu Trail Hossa National Park trail running will be arranged on Saturday 28th June 2025. Running distances are 78, 55, 38, 21 and 10 k. There is a separate competition category for 12–17-year-olds on the 10 k distance. 4th Kainuu MTBO Week 29 June - 4 July 2025

Open Sprint Orienteering Event on Monday 30th June 2025

Location: Sotkamo, Hiukka
Time: Monday, 30.6.2025, 14:00 - 17:00
Courses: A, B, and C
Entry Fee: €10
Timing: Yes (Emit/MTR)
Prizes: The fastest time on each course will receive a free entry to the competition categories or open categories for the 58th Kainuu Orienteering Week, which will be held from 28.6.-3.7.2026 in Suomussalmi. Additionally, one (1) free entry for the entire week to the competition categories or open categories for the 2026 Orienteering Week will be raffled among all participants.

Time: Wednesday, 2.7.2025, 12:00 - 18:00
Courses: A, B, and C
Entry Fee: €10
Timing: Yes (Emit/MTR)

Open Duo Orienteering Relay on Wednesday 2nd July 2025

Location: Kajaani, Vimpeli Sports Centre
Date & Time: Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 16:00
Entry Fee: €20/team in advance, €25/team on-site
Organizer: Kajaanin Suunnistajat
Description: A relaxed, not-so-serious relay for pairs – perfect for a mid-week break! Mass start at 16:00. Open category. Each team consists of two members. Recommended age: 13–100 years. Courses are fairly easy and short. Each leg takes approximately 15 minutes, with two legs per runner, so total running time is about 30 minutes per team member. Teams can be formed freely – no restrictions on skill level, club, gender, or age. All you need is a good spirit! Good parking, covered spectator stands, indoor toilets and showers – and most importantly, grilled sausages for sale!

  • For self-employed travelers and those looking for a hike, there is plenty to offer from all over Kainuu.
  • There are several hiking routes in Sotkamo e.g. Hiidenportti, Naapurivaaran Lepikon lenkki, Tipasojan luontopolku and Vuokatinvaara.
  • Other places worth visiting in the Kainuu region include Hossa and Tiilikkajärvi national parks and the Akkovaara and Kivesvaara hiking trails. These and many other places of interest can be found within day-visit distance from Sotkamo. For more information, e.g. www.luontoon.fi.
